Telford

Set within the layered historic fabric of Woolloomooloo, Telford Lodge is a careful reworking of a rare nineteenth-century villa and adjoining terrace dwellings. The project navigates the complexity of heritage adaptation through a series of restrained yet contemporary interventions that seek to enhance the experience of living within the existing architecture, rather than compete with it.

Telford Lodge reflects Studio ZAWA’s interest in working within existing structures to uncover latent qualities and create enduring residential environments. The project is defined not by large gestures, but by a careful calibration of scale, light, proportion and material — an approach that respects the history of the site while enabling a new chapter of occupation.
